Transforming lives . . . Pulling others out of the darkness of addiction . . . THAT is Adult and Teen Challenge of North Dakota, and THAT is the aim of the organization’s annual fundraising banquet slated for this coming Friday at Trinity Christian School. News radio spoke recently to 15 year veteran of the program and Board Member Randy Gubrud about the program and the banquet dedicated to helping the hurting, the lost, the addicted find God and regain control of their lives.
While Adult and Teen Challenge serves all of North Dakota, according to Gubrud, the needs in Williston are particularly great where addictions to alcohol, meth, and heroin are “rampant,” and a goodly number of those currently getting help at the organization’s facility in Mandan hail from the Williston area. As is the case with many who are addicted, there are little to no financial resources available or family to turn to in order to get on that road to recovery, and that is where Adult and Teen Challenge steps in to fill the void. In short, per Gubrud, “anywhere that there’s hurting, anywhere that there’s lost, anywhere that God can make a difference, He’s using Teen Challenge as that vessel.” For $25.00, less than the cost of what one might spend to eat out, you can attend the Adult and Teen Challenge banquet to enjoy a great dinner and be part of a transformational experience knowing that every dollar goes toward helping others break the grip of addiction. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from Friday’s banquet go toward NDATC’s mission of freeing people from addiction i.e., providing for the costs associated with participating in the program and staying at the NDATC facility in Mandan.
If you or someone you know is currently in the grip of an addiction and needs help, Randy and the team at NDATC encourage you to contact them. Participants must be at least 18 years old, and there is no age cap; Randy reminds folks that “addictions and life problems can strike us at any age or can be carried to any age, and that God has no limitations.”
The NDATC’s Fundraising Banquet is Friday, September 14th at Trinity Christian School, 2419 9th Avenue W., in Williston. Tickets are $25.00 per person or tables of eight may be reserved for $180.00. Reservations are required, so organizers ask that you please RSVP by calling 701-667-2131.
