Edgely, ND (KEYZ) By now you’ve seen it! On the KEYZ Facebook page and lots of other media, the words: “We stand for the Anthem”, plowed into a North Dakota bean field. Well Gene Hanson, the Edgely North Dakota farmer who plowed those words tells us he never thought the action would go viral let alone be tweeted by President Trump.
“I didn’t expect it to go viral. I thought to send a photo of it locally to a few friends on Facebook, and I sent a shot to a couple of TV stations, but of course you know what happened, it just went like wildfire. I just can’t believe that it did what it’s doing,” says Hanson.
At first Hanson says he tried to ignore the Anthem protesters. “But my blood pressure went up when I see them doing it and we lost too many lives over the years for our country and our flag. Just be respectful!,” says Hanson.
Hanson says of course players have the right to protest the anthem, but having the right is not the same as being right.
