Bio

I really don’t recall when I started in the radio business.  I believe it was in the fall of 1967, fresh out of high school.  I became infatuated with the idea of being a “disc jockey” after meeting a radio announcer that worked in Billings, Montana.  Our family listened to radio all the time when I was growing up near Billings.  The Coronado console radio was always on in the living room.  My brother and sisters would tune in the local rock n’ roll-station, KOOK, and mom would tune it back to the local country music station, KOYN.  After meeting that announcer in Billings, quite by accident, and visiting him one night at the transmitter/studio, I was hooked!

There have been four or five radio jobs, but when I was called to KEYZ in Williston in January of 1970, I found my home.  Two weeks after moving here, I met my wonderful wife, Joyce.  Today, we have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren and two grand-dogs.  So, life and work here has been wonderful and very rewarding for me.

I worked out at old “Fort Scofield” in 1970, then, helped Mr. Scofield move into our present building at 410 East 6th Street in 1974.  So, here I am today, doing the morning show, and my claim to fame, the “Trading Post” along with a lot of radio friends.  Twelve years ago, or so, I assumed the position of chief engineer for the Northern Plains Radio stations along with my on-air duties.

Friends, it’s been a dream career for me.  Today, my wife and I live just three blocks from the station, and I look forward to that walk to KEYZ Country to
Greet all of you every morning!

So, I’ve got about 42 years in the business, and sometimes, friends ask me when I’ll retire.  I can’t do that.  I’m having too much fun!
