Williston, ND (KEYZ) Williston Mayor Howard Klug says the city continues to look forward in developing more ways of sustaining the momentum of it’s oil and agriculture based economies. He wants Williston via the Economic Development department to lead the way in drone applications in both ag and petrochemical development.
“And we’re working with an individual out of Florida to put the infrastructure in place there so that Williston will be a place those kind of things can be located,” says Klug.
Drones are here to stay and they help businesses in sprawling rural areas like northwest North Dakota keep on eye on their operations, be it farming, oil rigs and pipelines.
Williston’s economic development department is busy seeking partnerships with companies in order to place the city at the forefront of drones technology and application — with abundant and widespread agriculture and oil rigs, Mayor Klug says it’s only natural Williston should lead the way in drone applications for both the ag and petrochemical sectors.
“You know now they get into an airplane and fly that, they could just use drone technology to look at all those things, on a cost save basis. There are applications in the ag industry if you look at crops from the air there’s never a crooked line anymore,” says Klug.
