Williston, ND (KEYZ) Williston’s two school districts have chosen who will represent them, in a series of monthly meetings agreed to in March, aimed at resolving issues both districts experience including overcrowding and boundaries.
District No. 8 will be represented by Jenny Jorgenson, board president, and board member Joe Keel, while board president Kim Semenko and vice president Sara Kasmer were picked for District No. 1. The major bone of contention remains the question of redrawing the district boundaries to reflect realities on the ground. That is, the districts now overlap, since district one the more urban of the two, has grown since the city has annexed portions of the unincorporated area as it grew.
District No. 8 officials resist such a move due to fears of a loss of tax revenue should it’s boundaries be pulled back out of the city.
