Williston, ND (KEYZ) CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston took delivery Tuesday of the Moderna vaccine to combat COVID-19 in western North Dakota.

Three hundred doses had arrived by midday, and three physicians were the first to roll up their sleeves for the initial shots of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine! Dr. Wayne Anderson, General Surgeon and Chief Medical Officer for CHI St. Alexius Health, was the first to take the vaccine.

While he hopes that getting people vaccinated goes a long way toward reversing the tide of this pandemic, Dr. Anderson cautions that it remains to be seen how things will ultimately play out and that, for the foreseeable future, restrictions will remain in place at the hospital to include limitations on visitation.  Dr. Anderson said they will also continue to recommend that everyone stay masked up as they go out and about in the community.

"This thing is not going to go away just because you or I get a vaccination today."
