Williston, ND (KEYZ) And then there were 6 . . . A member of the Williston Basin School District #7 Board has stepped down from their position.

School Board member and Williston Attorney Thomas Kalil submitted a letter of resignation to the District 7 business office on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Kalil's resignation became effective the same day it was tendered.

Among the reasons the Williston native and longtime practicing attorney cited for his departure were the significant time constraints that come with regular and special meetings, as well as myriad committee meetings. In a message to News Radio, Kalil stated that he "simply [doesn't] have the time to give to the Board that the position requires, while also giving the necessary time to [his] family and business."

In his resignation letter, Kalil stated that he will always be an advocate for the children of Williston, and there are a lot of things that he can and will do to promote the welfare of the district.
