Williston, ND (KEYZ) The uncertainty is over for residents of Williston's Legacy Apartments left wondering what entity would oversee the property once Lutheran Social Services filed for bankruptcy, pulling out of the housing business altogether, last January.

The property, located at 612 1st Ave West, is now under new management. Mandan-based Lewis & Clark Development Group (LCD Group) took over management of the historic property recently, filling the void left by LSS Housing to tend to properties which primarily serve low-to-moderate income North Dakota families and individuals.

In a release from the company Friday, LCD Group's Multi-Family Housing Director Paulette Paulson called Legacy "a real treasure in the community," noting its "affordability" as powerful draw for many individuals and families.”

Individuals aged 55 or older, or families with a head of household aged 55 or older, are eligible to live in Legacy. The complex features one- and two-bedroom apartments, an elevator, on-site laundry, and a suite for social gatherings. The former school gymnasium has been retrofitted as an activity room and – as an added bonus – pets are allowed.

LCD Group is also announcing that apartments are currently available, and a rent concession will be available for all units rented in May. Paulson says rent for a one-bedroom apartment is $653; a two-bedroom apartment goes for $783. All utilities – heat, air conditioning, water, garbage, and free parking – are included. Unlike many properties, a manager is located on-site.

“We have several apartments that have rental assistance so, if that is an option you are looking for, please visit us. Our staff will help tenants with calculations to ensure income qualification," says Paulson.

The public and interested potential tenants can visit with LCD Group staff in-person during an open house on Saturday, May 15 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

“Lewis and Clark Development Group is excited to become part of the Williston community. This open house is our opportunity to showcase this beautiful property and build relationships with Williston residents,” Paulson says.

Affordable housing is a primary area of focus for LCD Group, which is the state’s only network member of NeighborWorks America®. NWA is congressionally charted and dedicated to creating opportunities for people to live in affordable housing, improve their lives, and strengthen their communities.
