Williston, ND (KEYZ)  Williston Mayor Howard Klug is asking residents to prepare themselves for at least three big infrastructure projects this Spring. The biggest, he was willing to share with News Radio. That's the replacing of water mains along busy 18th Street from the ARC all the way west to Dakota Parkway. "Hopefully this will be a one season shot, but it's just one of those things. When you grow old your infrastructure grows old too, but as long as you have the funds to the upkeep now, you got to do it now because, like everything else, three years down the road the price is going to be up another 20 percent," says the Mayor.
Klug says the project is overdue and given our freezing weather we are fortunate not to have suffered a major break up till now.
"Five, six years ago, you'd had multiple breaks all the time, but now with what we've been doing in getting into these neighborhoods, sure you may have one or two, but no where near what it had been in the past," he says.
The work will begin after Band Day May 11, and proceed incrementally along the busy thoroughfare, no doubt causing delays and prompting commuters to use alternative routes.
