Williston, ND (KEYZ) Following the contractor’s unceremonious expulsion from the project back on August 9th, for failing to meet construction deadlines, the City of Williston and it’s surety bond partner Zurich North America decided earlier today that it would be in the best interest of all parties to reinstate the contract with JM Marschuetz however with the following caveats as recited by airport director Anthony Dudas.
“This option is the result of work with the surety company to complete the project on time, and they have chosen to continue working with JM Marschuetz to get the project done and committed to additional observation and additional steps to insure that the project is completed,” says Dudas.
Dudas would not elaborate on the particular steps and observations that would accompany this second round of work, however it does entail additional equipment and personnel contributed by the contractor and the surety to guarantee the taxiway is finished on time for the October 10th 2019, Grand Opening of the airport. The city canceled the contract in August when JM Marschuetz had informed the city it would need additional funding to complete the taxiway by the deadline. Marschuetz counted that assertion, blaming the city for giving a two month late start for the project.
